Expectations:
- 7th Grade Math on Mrs. Hyde's Aleks program has 286 Goal Topics, with 27 Prerequisite Topics total.
- Students will take a pre-assessment the first week of school on their Aleks account. Some of these topics may be passed off during this assessment.
- There is a unit that correlates to each chapter of math we will learn in our 7th grade math. Students will receive a grade reflective upon how much of the topics they pass off for each of these units.
- Students will be given a class period to work on their Aleks topics each week. Time will be required to be spent outside of class to complete the topics required for each chapter. It is expected that students will spend approximately 1 1/2 hours a week on Aleks in order to finish the required topics. If they complete learning on 12 topics before they spend 1 1/2 hours, they may be finished for the week. Our 9th period at CMS will be a great time to work on Aleks at school. Otherwise, arrangements will need to be made to meet the requirements.
Grading:
- A weekly grade for Aleks will be given to the students for work done in the program. The Aleks grade will count for 30% of the grade, so it is essential for students to complete this requirement. Each weekly grade will be 10 points for completing either 1 1/2 hours of work on Aleks or 12 topics completed. (Note: topics passed off during an assessment are topics that had already been learned. They do not count toward the 12 topic completed goal.)
- In addition to weekly requirements for Aleks work, a quiz may be given from time to time during class on Aleks. These quizzes will be graded as regular quizzes.
